Imaginary City

Imaginary City

Some cities live in the imagination long before they are lived in.

Barcelona was one of those cities for me.

I arrived carrying years of expectation and spent five years photographing the city while searching for a place to belong, or to confirm that such a place exists.

These photographs trace that search. They do not resolve it. They are fragments from a relationship with a place that stayed elusive.

The city remained itself. The question remained open.
